Free English Courses for Students

Give your English skills a quick boost by taking advantage of free English courses.

The Centre for Learning & Teaching Enhancement is pleased to announce three new online English as a Second Language Courses:

1. Beginning to Intermediate English as a Second Language (BE101)
Learn new words and how to use active reading, grammar, and writing strategies to read and write English better.

2. Intermediate English as a Second Language (IE101)
Improve writing accuracy and fluency be developing English grammar and vocabulary choices.

3. Upper-Intermediate English as a Second Language (UE101)
Become coherent writers by describing your opinions about the things you read and use your new skills to communicate your ideas in a clear, thoughtful manner.

The courses are available to all registered FNU students and are free of charge, self-directed and self-paced. They do not require any prerequisite and are not prerequisites to any course. These courses are voluntary and not for credit. If you are a registered FNU student, you can email clte@fnu.ac.fj to request to be enrolled in the course. Once enrolled, you can access the course by logging into Moodle using the link: https://elearn.fnu.ac.fj

After completing these courses, you will be able to:

  • improve your reading, grammar, and writing skills;
  • expand your vocabulary; and
  • write effectively in standard British English.
  • Successful completion of the online exam at the end of each course will entitle you to a Moodle Badge that will feature on your Moodle profile page.


    Learning to Learn Online

    A free online course designed to introduce you to the online learning environment and to your role as an online learner. LTLO will equip you with the knowledge and strategies to manage your online learning, prepare and submit assignments online, communicate with an online instructor, and plan for areas of personal adjustment required for success in an online learning environment..
